Does anyone who owns a factory convertible have a picture of the hinge covers as I want to see where the hooks screw in that holds the straps from the roof cover/boot.

I have a late model beetle and had the roof and boot cover done by Chuck at Chuck's convertibles. He said they didn't actually have a clip for the boot cover, just an elastic strap from the cover that goes to the little metal bar on both sides behind the rear seat.

My 76 beetle cab only has a couple of press studs each side, one on the outside and one on the inside each side, can't comment on if that's factory spec or just how it was done by the fella who fitted the new top.

Mine has the press studs so that's fine but the elastic straps from the cover are supposed to go to 2 small hooks that are screwed to the hinge bracket covers but where on the cover as mine are not now the originals ? Yogie, do you have a pic of this little bar you mentioned?

Here is the only picture I have of the area. It is the bar that comes out from the side of the car that the back seat rests on when it is up.

That can't be it as I have the hooks and even found them for sale on a website and they were described as being fitted to the hinge covers. I can't see every time I put the cover on having to put the seat forward to hook it up.

I have seen them fitted but from what Chuck was telling me, they were not standard on the cabrios. We move our seat forward to do it as it is not very hard when we want the cover on. Mostly we just have the roof down though with no cover.
