what are the standard bore/stroke sizes for the type 4 engine

i m guessing that the 2L (1971?) is 94 x 71 is this correct?

what are the possible modifications?

i ve seen 103 and 105 p&c combos advertised, but not prices?

what about stroking? is clearancing a t4 case difficult? or necessary at all?

again, im dreamin.....

.......please help:D

yeah go to
http://www.aircooledtechnology.com
as well

103's and 105's have a short life span, stroking can be done relatively easily up till about 78mm... more than that requires removing material from rods, camshaft top of case etc.

2270 (78 X 96) is a popular one, good longevity and power

Yes you are correct 71x94 is the combo Gary at Conti engines (at Bribie Island) for prices for his big bore kit (I think the 103 kit is in the vicinity of $2300!!). Too exy for me. You can install up to 78.4mm stroke without huge headaches although the crank to cam base circle clearance is more of a problem than crank to case clearance.

Definitely check out the shoptalkforum website, a lot of really good info.
