I'm converting my 40hp engine from stale air tin to fresh air tin and heater boxes. How does the air cleaner preheat hose connect to the tin (see photo)?

there's a metal tube that attaches to the exhaust stud and sits through that large hole
the paper tube pushes onto it carnt find a pic of the tube
