piston orientation
binner - July 25th, 2016 at 05:07 PM

hi,
I am about to install new pistons in my 2ltr engine but am unsure of orientation. The pistons I have are not flat top but they have like wedge cut into then on one half, does this point up or down.
Thanks in advance...

usually theres a lump on the underside of the piston on the gudgeon pin boss this points to the flywheel

Try lining up the valve pockets in the piston with the valves! dave

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I tried that last night and the orientation looks to be wedge faces up. I emailed AA pistons last night so hope to have a definite answer today.

cheers

From memory AA pistons don't have the off set

So as per above line up the indents with the valves

Yea, I'd say teh cut out at the top of the engine but also interested in the pink dot on one of the pin bosses.
