1968 beetle high beam

Hi bugzla

Do not change the indicator switch, the headlight relay has two functions it changes from high to low beam ,it also has a high beam flash circuit ,they both use the same earth signal from the indicator switch(thin brown wire) As your high beam flash works there is no problem there .There is a separate circuit that goes from the fusebox to the light switch,when its turned on it sends batt.supply to the relay which changes from H/L via the earth pulse from the forementioned indicator sw.Start at the fuse box,if you have a wiring diagram follow that.
If you find this confusing post a pic. of your dash wiring and I can guide you through it.

If the standard beetle wiring has been used ,diagnosing still applies. If not FK.Get yourself a 12v test light and follow the battery supply from fusebox onwards.
