Going down the IRS suspension route on my 1960 bus restoration.
Will be running a either a 1915 or 2100cc motor.
Question is what gearbox do I need to use, I know I need to change the nose and planning on getting it rebuilt but unsure what I need to start.
I have been offered a gearbox that is a single side plate code AT 27 113
any suggestions please?
Depends how much power the engine is gonna put out and how you drive it. I've seen a fair few IRS'd Buses using L bug transmissions without any
trouble.
Or you could get an extra gear and have plenty of strength with a Subagears reversed STi box
Use the singe side plate box, a 2110 will make plenty of power to run it.
thanks guys, AT gearbox on the way to me, then need to find someone to do a rebuild and check over.
Will be early 2017 before the body is painted but trying to get the running gear in order early so I can get it on wheels sooner than later
Dangerous on here used to be the man for box rebuilds. No idea if he still does them.
What IRS are you using?
haven't got as far as the IRS but was thinking the indian automotive one seems to get good reviews and I think is bolt in. I 'd rather not weld in
so it can be put back to standard if anyone ever wanted to (though no plans of selling it you never know)
any recommendations?

I believe the Indian one has shortened A arms which again I am led to believe would be illegal as they are welded?
