F&R Disk brake kits
Flintstones - April 23rd, 2017 at 10:08 PM
Hey All,
My son's starting to plan out the build of his bug and I wanted to get opinions on what kits, people have used and also the success' and/or
challenges that you've faced.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Dino
What model bug?
For extra show, from what I have seen, Boxster front and rear or Ford rear
Bang for buck, VW front disc and T3 drums
Have to have some mumbo before this doesnt work

It's a 69 chassis Barry.
Boxsters would be nice, but the cost would be prohibitive for him.
We've got a set of T3 drums for the rear already, but as he's planning for the future, we just want to explore the options before he settles down on
a particular path.
Cheers

mmmm................ not as bad as you think these days
At least they fit and are engineer-able
Unlike other stuff (Willwood etc)
Unless yo are going stupid hi po (Carter ) then what you have is
good to go.
If you are going down Carter St then you NEED to be able to stop

Check out UK scrappies. Can pick stuff like this up way cheaper over there inc shipping. I got my Golf VR6 calipers from OS and cost me less than $40
the pair and back then $25 shipping
The T3 drums on the rear are good altho I have heard they will still suffer from fade from spirited driving.
Check out VOlkszone and the Samba for plenty of options from people that have done conversions.

Ive had my t1 discs glowing with little fade with type 3 rear drums! Is a great setup on a budget! T1 fronts and ford rears are better again! Had no
fade full weight beetle very spirited driving on road! Racing dunno! Talk to Paul zannello or rudy frank or CT or plenty of others! Mine are drums
with no fade yet! Flat out! Thanks to Greg Mackie!
