71 bug fuel overflow hose

Hi,
I have a 71 Bug that has the fuel overflow from the passenger side of the tank, routed to the rear under the drivers side floor pan and connected to a
crankcase breather pipe that goes to the drivers side air filter cover.
Now this doesn't seem right to me.
It was restored this way
The previous 70 Bug had the overflow hose coming out under the front passenger guard onto the road.
Any ideas???
Thanks
Darryl

Thanks,
I'll pull out the boot panels and check it out soon as I'm nearly finished refitting the motor.
I think having the fuel run off hose going into the crank case breather hose allowing fuel to go into the crankcase is not really a good idea.
Looks like an interesting diagram.
Again thanks,
Darryl
