Who do people use for head/case machining on the Gold Coast, preferably the southern end(but no biggy if up the top)? Spoke to a machine shop across
the road from where Jax used to be but they reckon it would cost too much for them to set their gear up, better off to go somewhere that specialises
inVW's.
TIA
Dave buttler at reedy creek, but hes super busy building gearboxs,
Crankshaft Engineering tradelink rd brownsplains for the case maching,
Col at swift engine reconditioners also at brownsplains for cyl head machining.
Free tip if you shop for vw machine work on location/no travel you get what you get.All the people mentioned are gurus and they all did work on my
old street weapon. After blowing up my 2332 after 75,000klms.After inspection the case and crank hadn't moved a thou still perfect.
Forgot to say guys from all over australia send their stuff to crankshaft and dave if they are wanting the job done right.
Thanks mate, that's what I was after, travel/postage isn't an issue I just wanted to know if there were any reputable places that people use in my area first. I have heard a lot of great testimonials about Dave ( thought he was only gearboxes) and crankshaft(couldn't remember if they were vw specialists or just shit hot at balancing), anyway both of them are not too far away so will get In touch with them and go from there, thanks again
Cool,id keep dave in stock for gearboxs.Craig Brown is the man at crankshaft to speak to.When they do a proper job on a case and crank they tunnel bore the case, install main bearings measure each main with the case tourqed down then grid your crank to suit as each crush slightly diffrent. It costs a bit more but after the flogging i gave mine and its still perfect it was money well spent. And Mark that does the grinding is a vw man also so your stuffs in good hands.
