Hey - move to Hedland and you'll love it. It's currently hitting the forties, and it's not summer yet!

The aircon article is mine and done to the car on the left about 12 years ago.

Of course it can be done; Mexican NOBs (New 'Old' Beetles) are available with air-conditioning from the factory.

Hello,

I'm interested in getting my beetle aircon too. Afterall, I can't do 80km in the traffic jam or city traffic!

How much did it cost and where did you get the parts from.

BTW, why did you use a Holden Comm air con and not the Beetle aircon mentioned?

Was the latter harder to get?

I still want to Air Con My 68Auto Bug with 1600sp Engine with doghouse cooler etc. All the pics I have seen have the compressor on the LHS of the Carby... but I have a control valve mounted there...so Having the Compressor on the RHS is a better option for Me... I am thinking of a small light alloy compressor...NOT the Large Heavy type normally used 10-20 years ago. I believe the biggest hurdle is the compressor followed by the evaporator, which can be either mounted under the dash [normal] or maybe behind the dash with vents coming thru the dash, or thru under the dash..:o It won't be a weekend project.... It'll take a lot longer than that,
unless You have lots of pics and drawings with sizes... etc..... even then it'll be a big job..... to Me anyway.... I have thought of having the condenser under the front of the car with one or two electric fans. I have been thinking of using an Air Con system from a 1300cc ford festiva... as it was made for a small capacity engine...
I'm still looking at pics of VW systems and thinking....:o
