baja building in queensland

can anyone from queensland who
(a) knows the laws
(b) has a baja;
please advise me on the roadworthy technicalities.. i have read the qld transport page and it is very vague but i think it will be ok..

also does anyone know any queensland fibre panel suppliers that do baja panels?
(i know about http://www.fibrefab.com.au  from another thread but they are in victoria and i was wondering if anyone knew a closer supplier)

theres a cheap one for sale up your way with 5 months rego but dodgy engine for $1000 its meant to be pretty cool

i`am building one now and the engineer i talked to reconds that should be no problems with it as the baja does not change the vw sturctualy.just need cage around the engine and exhaust. try http://www.customoffroad.com.au/

Yeh wibble has a baja for sale here and also a new kit which was fitted but is yet to even have the lights cut into it.
If you want more info on either let me know. I think he wants 300 for the kit. and if you take the complete one the way it is you can have it for$1000. It went through a rwc a few months ago and was no problem to register.

In answer to your question

a) - Yes
b) No I upgraded to a Buggy and Sold them all :D
Baja Kits - They cost about $900 brand new. I can get you the details of the guys who make em but that is the sort of $$$ you are looking at.

RWC - same as a normal car. You need modification papers but that ain't hard.

I suggest you buy the one of Wibble and that way yyou don't need to deal with Main Roads at all. Just spiff it up and register it. For the money it is a great deal and you will come out far ahead.

If you already have a Bug then sell it off and cover costs.

I also suggest you join the Manx Club if you want to save $$$ on parts and meet heaps of cool Baja and buggy guys in the Brissy Area.
