ID plate colour?

Can anyone tell me what colour the ID plates in the spare wheel well on a 59 bug should be? I've heard silver but I want to be sure. Thanks

There actually Zinc plated if thats any help to you,,,,

i am sure if you paint it silver that will be OK.
