sure it was smoke?
aerostart + crud could be the culprit. start the bugger again... might find it don't 'smoke' anymore :thumb

I'd pull the carbs and give them a good clean out, old fuel leaves a build up of varnish and a jelly like stuff, it could be making the needle and seat stick a little, flooding the bowl.

Hope your not using 3-4 year old petrol? As apparently petrol these days only has a shelf life of a couple of weeks before it starts going all wrong. Not like the good old days of leaded petrol. The newer cancer causing (there safer though) petrols just aren't the same.

I am going to have to come around to your house one day soon and check out these cars.

the carbs were off my other engine....they also had not been used in a few years and they were wrapped up..they got a bit of a clean befor we used them.

the petrol in it was about 2-3 weeks old.

i'll give her another kick this weekend and see how she goes..could just be a bit of crap with aerostart..if not i hope it doesn't catch fire.

jason..good idea. i've been meaning to check out thoise spotties too...i'll get there this week

I've *HEARD* that carbies need petrol to survive. by that i mean some seals and gasketty bits can dry out and fail without being kept moist and petrolly. mebbe a new carb kit is on the way :(

type3kid - September 15th, 2003 at 09:13 PM

hope not....the other square won't like that..he needs a new exhust

Peter Leonard - September 15th, 2003 at 09:20 PM
