Can anyone tell me where I can get clarification on the date of manufacture of a VW Kombi

Two places, the compliance plate gives an indication, but best is the chassis number.
If it's a bay the number will look something like this 2272***
22 is the model code (micro bus in my case) and 7 is 1977. (Note model years ran from August to August, not a calender year)

If its a splitty go on to Vintagebus.com and go to the register site and after you have put the chassis number details in it will tell you the month and year of manufacture.
