KADs and 009s
Quoll - September 18th, 2003 at 07:53 PM
I have read bad things about kadrons being used with 009 distributors such as flat spots etc is this true? Or are they just trying to sell vac advance
distributors?
Any advice would be helpful thanks

Ask Pat, he just installed a 1600 with Kads and 009 in his oval. I think he's happy with it

I've got Kads & 009 on my 1916 and have no flat spots. The trick is getting the thing built and tuned PROPERLY!

So if a buy a set of second-hand ones I would be wise to get them professionally rebuilt and tuned?
How much would this cost?
thanks

You can't run a vac dizzy on Kadrons, there is no port to get the vacume from. Unless you put a port in, it would need to be in the right place.

009 are notorious for flat spots unless all is setup right (stan cant get my type 3 motor right!!! so i got rid of the 009 and put on a vac dissy and
away went the flat spot)

Yep, you should at least give them a good clean out before installing them. Especially because kadrons have an internal fuel filter, which get blocked
easy.
I just had my carbs apart yesterday, and I somehow had a small colony of earwigs blocking the filters.:o
I have re-installed and tuned them tonight, going by the how-to at http://www.lowbugget.com. The flat spot is still there, but it is less after I adjusted the accelerator pump linkages.
I think in the future I will go vacuum advance, just not yet.

never had a problem with 009 and Kads. Must be a 'software' problem, not hardware...
