Country Buggy resto
VWCOOL - September 20th, 2003 at 09:19 AM

Okay race fans, I'm once again working on my long-suffering Country Buggy resto. Starting with the pan & running gear. Can anybody confirm if the front brakes are Split Kombi? I have to get my cylinders replaced. Advice on rear brakes would be appreciated, too (although I havent dismantled them yet). Costs? Availability? I should call Boris, shouldn't I?

With VW stuff the easy availability allows you to replace at reas cost. I personally would re-sleeve in stainless steel anyway- it lasts forever & is suited to cars that don't get much use. Any brake repair shop can advise re costs so you can compare with replacement. It's prob a question of how long you're going to keep it.

VWCOOL, Brakes are definately Split Kombi, late '63 1500 up, front and back. Early bay front brakes will also inter change as I had '70 mod. front brakes on the Desert Bug.
All the best with the resto,
Cheers, Ian.
