Can anyone out there confirm for me what standard bolt pattern George uses on his disc brakes?? Is it later model VW, Ford or Holden?? (Unfortunately
hes on holidays so he couldn't confirm it for me)
If it is say VW, does anyone know if he can do them in a holden pattern??
Set of rims I am interested in at discounted price but of course don't want to buy them if brakes won't match.
With respect to tyres, is there a limit in QLD of how wide you can go (apart from physical limit) i.e legal limit???

Answers : The prices quoted on the Web site are for standard VW 4 and standard VW wide 5. He can do them in any stud pattern you want and the price
was much of a muchness last set he sold. So in answer to your question you can buy your wheels and his disc brake kits will match the pattern, The
offset stays the same no matter which pattern you go with ( excluding wide 5 )
Tyres - 1.5 x factory is the rule... on an off roader, 1.2 I think on a streeter, this is going to change soon though.

I don't know, but I'm guessing 145/155's
If memory serves me correctly, It was no more than $100. This was for the rears as changind from 4 stud hubs that were machined to custom ones wasn't a real big price difference. Fronts would be much teh same.

Sorry to ressurrect this one but I am still a little confused with respect to tyre widths.
I checked in my original car manual/service book and identified that the original tyre width was 5.6", I converted this to mm and then multiplied
this by 1.3 (Brad I did a little more investigation about your multiplication factor it was actually 1.3, pretty close considering off the top of your
head)
Therefore by Queensland Regulations the widest tyre that can go on my beetle 58 is approx 185mm.
My question is I have seen a number of beetles getting around with 195s, 205s and even 225s. How is this so?
Does this mean all of these cars used different tyres to get registered and then swapped over later (possibly asking a question that shouldn't be
asked here)
or
Did these cars get lucky and were registered anyway?
or
Did the person registering the vehicle just not care?
or
Am I missing something in the rules, it talks about original tyre widths, blah blah blah however maybe because of a serious of modifications the car
is no longer considered original therefore rule no longer applies??
I am reaching a bit here...can anyone shed some more light.

I ask this as I will need to get my car registered after the body off resto is finished, don't want to rock up with 17" 225s (after
outlaying $$) and get turned down at registration time.

P.S This is more of winge than anything - assuming that I have to stick to 185's the rules are a bit of a farce, due to engine size increase I
need to do a number of safety mods (disc brakes, demisters, collapsible steering column etc) seems pointless to upgrade brakes and keep skinny tyres.

i think .... ummm....... technically there are a LOT of cars out there that are not suppose to have .... um ...... passed rego.
A spare set of stock tyres from a wrecker "might" be a good investment :thumb

Forget the multiplying tyre sizes, the rule is, if you car is pre 1973 and weighs between 801 & 1000 kgs you can use 7 inch wide wheels. And tyres
to suit these wheels.
