steel wheel - damaged rims
primate - September 29th, 2003 at 11:24 PM

Does anyone know if the rim edges on steel wheels can be rolled/straightened. The damage is minor curb inflicted 'rash'.
I don't want to cut the centres out and have the rims replaced.
If anyone has had this repair done, and has info or can recommend someone in Sydney I would greatly apreciate it.
Cheers,
Ali :)

i had a guy fix my steel rims with a lump hammer. don't recommend it highly, but it worked. :D

Steel rims can generally be straightened, but they need to be checked for concentricity afterwards.

Are they aftermarket wheels or stockies? I personally wouldn't bother trying to repair stockies unless the damage is very minor. :)

you could ask volksbahn who does thiers. i got a set of restored factory slotted rims from them a few years ago and they had had the lips rerolled.

Thanks for the info guys. They are not stockies, they're a set of 4-stud Sprintsars.
I'll give Volksbahn a try.
