hey
whats the difference if there is any in a 2L and 1.8L gearbox bellhousing??
cheers

the engine case is the same so should the bellhousing
No the bellhousings are longer, input shaft longer, starters are different to clear the bigger clutch.
Bolt patterns are the same and they are interchangable.
A 2 litre also has longer studs on the bottom of the case.

hey
so if i have a flywheel cut to an 1800 size flywheel it should be alright???

What exactly is the combination you want to use?
Its the pressure plate which causes the problem. The 2 litre is a bit bigger. Ring gears are the same. An 1800 clutch/flywheel will work in a 2 litre
bellhousing with 2 litre starter. Vice versa doesnt work. The flywheels are a direct swap over but I guess VW must have assumed the smaller clutch not
up to the task of the 2 litre. It would probably be OK if not fully loaded and/or abused. I actually used an 1800 clutch and flywheel when trying to
get my kombi home from newcastle. It was towing my empty car trailer and didnt appear to be slipping.
ok this is what im gonna use:
i have a V6 which im fitting the flywheel was cut for an 1800 gearbox and as was the adaptor!!
so does it matter if i use the longer input shaft of the 2L box into the 1800 flywheel and clutch/pressure plate???
