Oval Headlights

What are the correct positions for the adjusting screws on the headlight on and oval window beetle. I thought it was 4 and 8 o'clock position. Now I am hearing 2 and 8 o'clock position. Any ideas?

I'm guessing here w.r.t. ovals and somebody brighter will no doubt correct this, but:
2 O'clock and 8 O'clock are directly opposed at 180 degrees to each other, so wouldn't work for adjustment.

By manipulating 4 O'clock and 8 O'clock together or in opposition, you could manage both horizontal and vertical alignment and that's why they're at those locations on my Kombi.

Yes that sounds correct..
12 is for up & down beam adjustment
9 is for left & right beam adjustment

I have no idea what 2-8 is for but check out this link. This is why I asked the question to start with. Think things may have been different in Hamerica.

You need to go in a couple of pages on this link.

That is why I thought 12 and 9 were for early cars. I have 4 and 8 on the 63, which is what those replacements are as well.
