Hi all,
I only replaced my tail pipes to new shinny ones back in May, and it’s already getting rusted…:cry wondering what will be the cause of that, just
want to find out if that’s an indication of something more serious…
Ron
when all you can buy is cheap sh?t. from brazil or simular thats what you get, sorry. try getting them rechromed.
get the german stuuf it costs more but its better quality :thumb
Replaced them in May, WOW they usually go rusty in 2 weeks.
Get the german stainless steel ones, expensive but they last, and don't have that stupid whistley exhaust sound.
I had cheap Brazillian ones and they went rusty in about a month, and then a couple of months ago one fell out while Fleur was driving on the freeway
and it hit the windscreen of the car behind her.
The German ones were not even twice the price, and it sounds better now with no chirp.
I agree with Dave, Go stainless
Rob......
U buy Cheap U get Cheap....
Beck yr wrong they start rusting as your putting the things onto the muffler.
Get a rag with some fresh oil on and give them a wipe. It turns the pipes a yellowy colour, but the oil slows down the onset of rust, but Brazilian
ones always rust.
Steve
go and get them ceramic coated last for ever look really good almost like chrome no maintainance and all this for $40 pair

Brazilian go rusty ON the boat...
I got stainless tail pipes for Wolf.
No when they come out of the chrome electro plating tank.
Dave, ... i believe you are wrong.... i thought the rust was built in BEFORE they were chromed to give that authentic 50yr old look?
:P
you're all wrong. They are actually made from rust.
:P had to have my go.
Alternatively let the rest of your car rust like hell and join the RAT LOOK club instead
When they dug the Iron Ore up out of the ground it was RUST then.....
And i made a mistake before they were only waved over the chrome tank not actually dipped into the solution,.
Hehehe brazillian:P, and yeah you do get parts made outta rust these days, things were never like this back in the 90's:P
had the same with Brazilian rear view mirrors.
LHS is 35 years old, shiny, and German.
RHS is 6 months old, orange, and yep, brazilian.
as far as I'm concerned, Brazilian is only good for one thing.
mmmm brazilian :P
Brazilian chroming is crap.
Brazilian waxing is the best.
:thumb
*shudders*
I was under the impression that genuine VW brazillian stuff was OK but its the aftermarket brazillian stuff is crap.
Hey if you wanna go brazillian I saw an ad on TV for zeet (or something) some new fangled wax, that actually tickles as you rip it off. At least the
girls on TV were laughing and I know there's no such thing as false advertising
Were those girls going brazillian on TV.
Didn't your mum never tell you not to watch those kinds of movies!
I thought my tail pipes were just orange colour, you mean they were supposed to be chrome?
Get some Autosol and have a rub.....on the tailpipes that is.
Squiz......
hey...hehehehe thats not really that rusty...have a look at the RED pipes that are coming from my car..:o
hehehe
u cant see the pipes very well....but if u look really hard...u can see them...its very disgraceful.. the whole system is red from rust....
jonno
sorry dude. had to edit your picture cos it was too large. Theres a 50Kb limit and it was over 250.
I have heard that there are different types of Quality from Brazil...
Original VW quality but lighter metal.
Aftermarket crap that is sold in Australia.
Aftermarket crap that is crappier than the 2nd one.... and probably still imported and sold in Australia..
The brazillian tail pipes do not normally rust until touched by a human hand.. keep them wrapped in a sealed plastic bag and they will not
rust.....
You can buy quality Mufflers made in Denmark, so why can't they import danish tail pipes too ???
