Hey guys, since i had the new motor put in i also want to upgrade the exhaust system too. I was just wanting to know what my options were?? The pic shows what i currently have. I would like something that gives out a good note but won't crape along the ground when reversing down a driveway or going over a speed bumb.
I have seen a system that looks standard but is meant to give out a good throaty note, the guys from VOLKSHAVEN had them at the nats this year for $239, does anyone know much about them?
cheers Lee.

Seeing as its a 1600, and you are running a standard carb? - yes?

You running heater boxes??

Maybe just get a stock german one with good tail pipes and get it coated?

Or even a Thunderbird and get the standard muffler cut up so insted of hanging low and getting scraped all the time get an exhaust shop to tuck it under the rear guard, but make sure they clear the rocker cover otherwise it makes vavle setting a pain

If you are going to get a header system try and get a 3 bolt small flange as opposed to the 3 bolt large flange. The large version the plates buckle and end up leaking.

If you are going to run a standard carb and live in a cold area and need the pre heater pipes to work propperly then remember that only a standard exhaust has the take offs in the correct place for the gas flow to work propperly.
You could get a stock header system modified but it wouldnt be worth the dollars

Thats quite a restrictive exhaust, you've got 4 pipes going into 1 that is the same size.......
