I have a gearbox for my splitty that's been sitting for god knows how many years and the driver's side brake drum is stuck on. I've tried hitting it with large hammers, kicking, swearing and shouting at it. I've even tried a proper puller and even a home made slide hammer made from bracket bolted onto the brake drum and a disc brake rotor, but still she won't budge. The only thing I haven't tried is an oxy because I don't have one. The next step is to get the old girl on a trailer and take it to a brake shop.

I tried a mobile brake service but when I told him what I was working on, he refused to come.

By the way, it's in the bus and fastened, if that makes any difference.

Any ideas of how I can do this without taking it in to the brake shop, would be appreciated.

You need to cut the 2 brake adjusting screw with a hack saw blade cut down so it fits in the small brake adjusting hole

Might take some time but its the only way

Sorry, I should have mentioned. There are no brakes inside the drum. I've bent the back plate back out of the way in despiration so I could hit it with a hammer and there was nothing inside.

The drum is stuck on the spline only.

Go calmly, as apparently split-screen brake drums are becoming difficult to obtain.

A good penetrating oil like "Penetrene" might help; try to set up a bath enclosing the area.

As the drum is stuck to the spine, heating the drum might get it to expand enough that a puller will work.

Your problem is fairly common and the solution is generally made up of many parts.

If the drum is really stuffed, you may be able to drill it to bits with titasnium drill bits, but make sure it really is stuffed first.

I had this problem with an old splitty gbox
I got a 20m ltr drum and filled it with 10 ltr's of diesel and sat the whole druna ssembly in there for a couple of days then i drilled an extra hole in the drum on the other side to the one that is already there then used a big pullerand tensioned it hit it with a hammer then tensioned it more etc untill it came off a bugger of a job. it was due to the drum being rusted onto the splines as it had been sitting outside.
it might have helped if i'd had a blow torch but didnt have one at the time

I've been using these for 20 years. They are just 3 lengths of allthread the same size as your wheel nuts and with three nuts welded on the end. They are about 125mm long & can be bought at any bolt shop. You screw them in 3 of the wheel bolt holes & just keep turning till they hit something & push the drum off. I posted this a while ago & someone suggested I would bend the backplate- well, that hasn't happened to me yet & it appears yours is bent anyway! Good luck!
