fuel lines
BiX - October 28th, 2003 at 04:36 PM

I started getting a fuel smell today from my car(L bug). So had a look at it when i got home. The line below the filter at the front that goes over the master cylinder is soaked. but also when i had the car up on the jack (front end about 2 foot of the ground) i noticed that fuel was dripping from the drain hole at the back of the tunnel.

could i have a leak in the solid fuel line in the tunnel, or are there any connections in the tunnel? or could it be were the solid lines goes into the tunnel near the master cylinder?

any help would be great as i have to drive 180km tom to and from work and need my car on the road.

thanks BiX

Most prob the flex line from the bulkhead to the tank is stuffed. You could check for leaks by draining the line from the rear and then clamping it off in front of the bulkhead somewhere, blow air back through the line from the rear and listen for leaks. Hope it helps.

hey BiX

You found the problem yet? I've got a similar problem but i dont think its fromt he flex line from the tank to the tunnel (solid line) as the rubber grommet holding the line in the tunnel is intact and wouldn't let THAT much petrol in..

lemme know how you how

Cheers
