calibrating the fuel gauge and the sender

Can the fuel gauge be calibrated as mine shows 3/4 tank when I fill up.
Has anyone one done it and if so how is it done? Or can it not been done and just get a new sender unit.

Just bend the float arm down, so when its full the float will go up further showing a full tank... You will have to experiment a bit, You probably won't have to bend the arm much ,maybe 25-50mm...
Just make sure there isn't a hole in the float, with fuel weighing it down... or there isn't another problem at the top of the arm , at the sender end... no broken wires etc...
best of luck..

Just about all the fuel gauges ive seen do this.... which isnt really important when you have just filled up with fuel.

More important is to have the gauge accurate when your at the other end of the scale. If its a Beetle try filling it up when it reaches 1/4 full and you should put in about 30 liters or so.

and you can do the same when it reaches 1/2 and reserve lines on the gauge.
