do you mean the one for the automatic choke???

Or the one for the shut off valve

You can either solder it back on
or
i could have some old carbs lying around

ooohhhh man...ur makin me happy....
i dunno which one it is, as i am still learning about the car. but when u look at the square from the rear, its the wire that connects to the side...not the front. the part it connects too screws out...

sounds like the idle cut off solenoid. Can be replaced with a jet, or cut the end off, depends what car what year. You could even replace it with a new one :o

well if anyone has one they would like to sell...gimmi a buzz...
also....where the wires connect to the front of the carbi, it connects to a white thing...which goes inside i think?? but anyway..that wabbles when i wiggle the wire?
bad? good? or liveable?
thanks, jonno

The front one is the electric choke, turn the ignition on and feel if the round metal part gets warm....if it does then it is working.....if not then the connection inside is broken and it needs replacing

jonno-t3 - November 2nd, 2003 at 05:45 PM

thats the front connectionw we are talking about here?
also what does the hose carry that is in the engine? there is the fuel hose with the fuel filter on it...but this on seems to connect to the carbi aswell? i just want to know what the hose is for because i want to change it with new stuff..

If I were you I'd drive the car over to a VW mech and ask him in person, it is so hard to answer your Q's becuase you don't know how to explain what it is your asking (Shoulda seen me when I first started - this shiny thing where does it go on the engine? - hehe)

Or ask around here on the forums for a local VeeDubber to drop over and give ya a hand answering your Q's

I'd be there in a flash, Prob is it'd take me 14hrs to get there!! :P

Good luck dude, good idea to take photos like you have done!!

i see what you mean, thanks....i'll take some more photos of what i wanna know tommmorow...so then i can find out...
otherwise...yeh...i dont really wanna ask someone to come over to look...cus that'd be wastin there time...

EDIT: i made a small video of what i was talkin about...very short but it shows u the little white thing moving. everything works...i mean its been driven...but i just wanted to know if this was bad or not.
