I have a 68 beetle that before i became the proud owner, was installed with one piece windows. my question is are they ment to work like shit! or has there been some short cuts taken to graft them in to my oil dripper?
*they dont wind up straight
*they have to be pushed against so they close correctly at the top
* LH side regulater seems to make grind type noise when winding up and down(maybe stuffed regulator)
any info regarding this would be great! I am thinking that the 2 piece bailey channels have been kept and causing some issues.
once again any info or help would be greatly appreciated

I had one piece windows in a beetle some time ago, and they never worked that well either. (I didnt fit them) But mine had the twin lift regulator which works better fall the extra weight of glass at the front.

Put the NORMAL ones back in.

One piece LOOK good - but............

Yes you need the twin lift to get any real action to work properly.

There is a good article in the Tech Section of SBO that has a few helpful hints.

I LOVE the look of them but quater vents are great and they dont leak!

I have them in my 76 and they work perfect.
But Let me tell you there is a lot of work to set them up so that they work like this.

mine also work fine, whoever did them made sure they did them right, they dont clunk and dont leak and sit perfectly. Im thinking they took the shoddy way of doing things with yours newcastle68daka

You deffinatly need the twin lift reg, it will help heaps!

what yr in aus did the twin regulator start to be used ? i have a late 68 and im getting a one piece window kit from bugpack is my regulator the right one ?

I've put in one peice widows in my 68 but I made a new channel for the window to sit in. It covers about 75% of the full window length and works a treat. The only problem I have is the air flow. The quarter windows worked great at getting some cool air in during summer.
