I have just put in a three teir engine rack that should hold around 12 to 15 motors, but I am not sure which is the best way to hoist the engines .
Top shelf is about 6ft in height, so I want to secure them well with out damage.
Any ideas?

I hoist my motors, by slinging a strop under the heads and then up to the chain block to the RSJ that runs from one end of the workshop to the other.
It's that easy!

See you all at the Cavalcade of Volkswagens in Hobart, next weekend.:thumb
Thanks for the info Mark.
You dont find that the weight of the motor places too much stress on the studs? If not than this is a much simpler way than I have been going about
it. Around the flywheel and front pully.
Have fun in Hobat......... Wish I was going.
I really don't think lifting a motor this way would put any 'strain' on the head bolts.
Think about it this way. Only four bolts hold
the motor to the gearbox. You've got a lot more bolts/studs than
that holding the heads on. I think you're safe.
