What is this hole for?
matara - November 4th, 2003 at 08:58 AM

I was just repainting and fitting a stock air filter I picked up a few years ago for the Kombi last night. On putting it back together I noticed a hole on the side. Any idea what it is for?

Leaving it open means air can be sucked in through it? Should it have a grommet or something in there?

Thanks
Steve

not real sure but the beetles have a oil vapor line( oil breather) into the cleaner is there a open line near your oil filler on your engine ....

Bus Boys have a lot of exploded diagrams that can be useful in working out what's what. I just had a look and that hole does appear to be for an oil breather.

Steve I think you will find its for the breather line which was a piece of tube swaged into the side of the cleaner.... it must have falling off somewhere along the line.
