Howdy Y'all...
just wondering if anyone can shed some light.... ok so the story goes like this..
i wanna get a bug to be sitting like 1 inch off the ground when at shows etc... BUT when i go to drive it home i wanna be able to make it
"Driveable" if you know what i mean.. so be able to make it sit up another 2 - 3 inches or so.. is there any way of setting this up so i can
drop and raise the car at a whim... without having to do any mechanical stuffing around. like air shocks or something (i honestly have know idea)
any feedback or point me to a website would be most appreciated..
Thanks a bunch,
Yianni.
Take your wheels off :P
Apart from that there is no non mechanical way to do it. You can install front and rear adjusters which will allow you to dump it up and down by
turning a few bolts. You can also use spring plate adjusters if you like.
I have installed front and rear adjusters on my Manx to lift it up but it would be the same process to have it sit low.
Dropped spindles with avis adjusters on both beams, would drop the car to the ground. A spare set of wheels with skinny 135/145's on would drop
it even further. Not sure by how much totally, but it would be in the weeds definately.

thanks for the input - i've heard of hidraulic suspension that u can jack up and down by the push of a button or the pump of a.. well pump.
also air - suspension or sumthing.the adjusters sound good on the bars.. i like the whole -twist a few bolts... would be hard to do if the car is an
inch off the floor right
thanks for the info fellas!

Air bag suspension and hydraulics will allow you dump at will, however both come with a hefty price tag and both require significant modification and
"mechanical stuffing around".
Check out http://www.burnincustoms.com for a Southport (Gold Coast) based company
that installs air bag suspension. Factor in about $2-3K for a standard sort of air bag kit for your car (of course speak to them for an accurate
quote). It would be sweet to have a remote operated adjustable suspension that you could dump as you walk away or lift on your way back to the car, I
thought about it for my splitty but realised it was not feasible ($$).
Adjustable front beam is probably the cheapest and easiest way....along with adjustable spring plates on the rear. Would still be a bit of fiddling to
adjust every time though.

theres a place in sydney that does the hydrolics or airbag system for $1800 saw them at the Autosalon and will be there this month so check them out
thanks y'all i'll take it all into account when making the final descision...
you may soon see a bug rising up and down all by itself! (i love the idea of remote )
damn $$'s. :cry
Thanks anyways,
Yianni.
