kay here's the deal. the gearbox in my baja is stuffed (keeps popping out of 4th and it's getting worse) we've pulled it out, and tried a spare one we had but that one's stuffed too. so here's the problem. do I spend the money and get a reconditioned gearbox or get one from a wreckers? Keeping in mind that with the one from the wreckers it is a unknown what condition it's in and how long it'l last, whereas a recond one we will know that it is good. so what'dya think?

Getting one from a wrecker is a gamble if the condition is unknown.

Just a thought!! try the screw that connects the splines together at the junction of the rear of the box. i lost the screw on the way home from the glody and i have now replaced with a new one and my fourth gear doesn't jump out any more. the old screw must have been tightened on the wrong spot all this time, been jumpin out for about 2 years, now it doesn't. sweet. cheers, fish

4th gear is a different gear for it to be poppin out of!!!
