Hey dudes, ive got troubles, not big only small, ile set the scene was 1300sp now 1600sp pict 30,009 with module pointless, new intake manifold. Its been tuned and jetted with an analyser and still runs a little rough,it sounds to me like carb icing again which i had fixed but now is back again, its very cold to touch the manifold just under the carb at the rear. The question is do you need to encourage exhaust flow along the heat riser by using a restricting pipe gasket and are they still available and if its needed what side does it go on a 67 beetle, end of rant, thankyou !:o

Had this trouble before. Signs of a healthy engine!
U can wire a H/light bulb just under the carby with a switch handy. When icing evident turn on bulb for a few mins.
Alternatively, you can get some soft copper pipe, flatten it. wrap a few turns around exhaust near head, then wrap a few turns around manifold under carb.
Like a chain around a bull's arse, not neat but strong! Lol
luck

Use the full gaskets for the Pre heat pipes... Ive done it this way on my 1500 and it works fine. the restrictor gasket will slow the flow of exhaust but also cause the pipe to gunk up and block.
