Hi VW PPL
I have a 1200 engine, and I want to bump it up to 1300. can I just put 1300 barrel's and pistons strait onto the case? and do I have to get the heads machined to accept the barrel's.

Sorry Robo its a whole new block and probabally box as well

I "think" the 1200 has a 64 crank and the 1300/1500/1600 is a 69

You would be better flogging the 1200 as a going concern and changing over.
You also have the 1200 6V gear box / fly wheel to deal with.
Better off going 12 V now and making life easy

the 1200 has a 64mm crank and 77mm bore.
a 1300 is just a 1200 with a 69mm crank and slightly different case
you used to be able to get a big bore kit for a 1200 which took it out to 1385cc
your best bet would be to get a 1300 case and start from there
I did have one but gave it away when I moved also had some p&c's and twin port heads

No worrie's thanks PPL
Looks like I will just rebuild it as a 1200, not really interested in HP much, its only a town car, and as long as it goes I don't really care.

a few little things you can do is fit 1600 rocker arms as they have a slightly different ratio the 1200 use a 1:1 ratio and the 1600 use a 1.1:1
a 3 angle valve job extractor system
might be cheaper though to rebuild a 1600?

What they said above but i think you find that you carnt get a new 1200 Barrel n piston set as they all gone,

Do the rocker mod as its cheap and works well.
