Running on 1 cylinder
Roukis - December 9th, 2003 at 01:11 PM

I have a 1776 with dual 40mm Webers.

When I am driving with a heavy foot, the engine will start to run on what seems like 1 cylinder. I feel it may be too much fuel flooding the motor. I am running it nice and lean.

It goes away when you slow down and idle for a few seconds. Then off you go and its ok.

Driving 1/2 throttle its fine.

What happens if you slowly accelerate from rest in 1st gear to about 40km

Is there a real flat spot you drive through??

Has this only just happened again??

Carbs out of sync??

Just trying to find what rev range it happens in??

Its only started happening since I fixed my accelerator pedal to get full throttle.
Remember, it only happens after a hard run. If I floor it in top gear for a few seconds it seems all this fuel isn't being properly combusted so it fouls the spark plugs, its definitely a miss like there is almost no power.

Nothing to do with the carbs being balanced. It happens easier when I run it richer.

Hmmm.... real pity you didnt come out to Penrith on the week end

For $35 you could have had 2 runs on a dyno and had a real good go at dialing it in properly.

Could be
* main jets
* float level
* needle / seat jet or sticking

Would really love to know your jet sizes that are in there now - would help heaps

Have u pulled a plug??

Is if fouling or white / lean???

I would get someone who knows what there doing to have a look at the carby set up. Is this something new or has the car been doing it all the time ???

Who set it up or tune it ???

do this before you break something and it costs you real money.
