Howdy Folks,

Just had the Ute (1800 Type IV) in for a tune up at the local dub shop. She is running like a champ now, less tractorish.

Only drama is I was driving home this arvo, it was hot !! And by the time I got home and pulled into the driveway the oil light came on and flickered fast. Rev the motor stops flickering.

It did seem to be a bit hot and i havent blocked off the Heater box outlets yet :o So maybe she got a bit warm ?

Whats the thoughts...

Is it reving too low???

Had a problem in my kombi where there was a air leak in the carb and that was causing it to idle low and the light flickered.

Fixed the leak and it idles propper now and no oil light
I would at least take it back and ask a few questions

Was the motor hot???
If the oil lihgt comes on after a drive it is usually a sign of low oil pressure

It does seem to be idling quite slowly. Which would make sense as when i rev it slightly faster the light stops flickering. I might put the tacho on it and adjust the idle.

It "shouldnt" be a leak as the carbs were taken off and re jetted...... "shouldnt"

It sounds like it got real hot and dropped oil pressure. Probablygot the oil thin enough that the pressure at hot idle was low enough to trigger the light.

As it seems like a new problem since the tuneup. Check the valves (cold) then the timing then the idle.

What way was it rejetted? Richer should be cooler until it washes the walls of oil and reduces engine life if too rich. Leaner can make it run hot, either cause its jetted too lean or has an airleak.

Yesterday was bloody hot too. still should run ok though.

You happen to live a little north of Brookside? I often see a tidy ute parked there.

I seem to recall bigger jets were put it so richer ..... It is idling very low so i figure it got hot the oil went thin and the idle is too low. Ill adjust it and see how I go.

Yep not to far from Brookside. You should see 2 tidy utes on my street the guy two doors up has one too !!

Gheck the oil level first before you go to far. Fit a new switch or check the wiring to it first maybe its loose.
