VR6 error codes
hool - December 31st, 2003 at 01:42 PM

I've got a 93 build, 94 compliance australian delivered VR6. On really hot days it baulks around 3,000rpm when trying to accelerate, the hotter it gets the worse it is...

I've had someone with a diagnostic computer pull off the error codes but we don't have a manual to decipher the code and determine best course of action

The error codes are:

553 Mass Airflow Sensor G70 short with ground, error occurs intermittently

537 Lambda sensor control limit below minimal level. Error occurs intermittently.

Does anyone have a book that explains these things, or know where to find what to do next?

Ta!

Go see the guys down at Mullers 97591818

take 2 secs or call them for them to decipher

My understanding would be Mass Air Flow Meter need cleaning or could be faulty

lambda sensor is in ur exhaust manifold again could be faulty too

Those are my guessses but speak to Paul Muller he's the VAG Com Guru ;)

Sounds like your running a little rich . I have a spare air flow meter for your car at work . My VR6 no longer uses the air flow meter as it runs an aftermarket ECU that has a map sensor . I won't be back at work till monday .
