The Mrs is complaining about the heavy steering on the splitty when reverse parking. Has anyone looked into fitting power steering in a splitty or bay
window?
I know that some T25 or Vanagons came with power steering! Do you think there would be any way of utilising T25 parts to retro fit them to a splitty
or Bay.
I'm pretty sure having this would overcome a lot of your other halves objections and allow you to get a splitty for your next project (instead of
letting them go overseas!)
Any tips much appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

Hi
A freind of mine with an off road buggy made a setup using a Holden or Ford pump and used powersteering ram from some sort of early Ford or Holden,
sorry to be vague but it was a long time ago. The ram looks like a big steering damper and you might be able to fit it in place of your steering
damper, best to talk to a steering shop for models etc.
Have you tried putting 40 psi in the front tyres, it worked with an old Hi Lux I had.

Can't answer your question specifically, but is the rest of your steering OK?
If it's all set up correctly and in good nik, particularly camber and wheel alignment the steering should be quite light to start with.

my steering on the kombi is lighter than our older tarago,+better to drive, more driver and passenger side room and more comfortable to drive

sand kombi, u missed the fact that with the bay windows, the kombi was 15 years ahead of the tarago in terms of safety (chassis design). my father wont even drive my grandpa's tarago (but has no probs with driving the bus when it hits the road)
