wheel and tyre combos
Golde60 - November 15th, 2002 at 01:35 PM

tell me, will 195/50 r15s and 205/60 r15s fit under my standard 1960 guards?

i am looking at getting some 2nd hand wheels and tyres.
the car will be lowered and i want low profile wheels without having to go skinny in the front.
i am happy to narrow the front beam if necessary, cos i want disc brakes and dropped spindles up front.

what do you reckon?
will it all fit?

Depends on offsets of your wheels...but i think you wont get 195's under the front unless you narrow the beam or something.
Also depends how much you lower/dump

the wheels will be empi 5 spokes (replicas)
the front will be lowered with dropped spindles and maybe have some welded in adjusters too.
i want to get some disc brakes that wont widen the front track and still have the wide 5 bolt pattern. vvds or sherman.

kicking myself that i didnt buy brads sherman kit. it was up for a steal a while ago.

anyway blue, thats the plan.

:bounce

Hey Golde, can't be much help on the tyre size bit as my 57 has 185/50 Yokos on 356 rep rims all round, with stock ride hieght. No probs with clearance here.

Have had a look at a lot of the wide 5 stud disc options , but to me it looks like all will widen the track at the front. Some have an adapter that bolts on to a standard 4 bolt disk. There is a UK made TUV approved conversion available, but at 600 pounds plus it a lttle out of my range.
But I think this one widens the track too.

yeah most of the the wide-5 discs widen the track a bit, VVDS is working on a front wide 5 disc setup that actually narrows the track by a couple of mm...

either that or just go with the stock discs and drill the rotors for porsche pattern or something
