Getting a Windscreen made!
matara - January 19th, 2004 at 10:24 AM

Whilst I've got all the glass out of my cabrio I was thinking about replacing it with new glass with a green or blue tint. The front windscreen needs replacing as its got a chip in anyway.

Does anyone know of a place in Sydney that can make up replacement glass using the originals as templates? Its all flat in a 61 cabrio bar the rear window so it should be straight forward.

Thanks

Steve

Dave, you should write a book on how and where to get your VW restored in Sydney. You know all the good places!!

Thanks

Steve

I bought a screen from pilkington they made it thicker for me just took the old one in and they made it for me. Cant remember the price but it's been in the car for 6 years and no problems with it. Will dig out the receipt for you to compare prices now to then.

Cheers

Go to G James at Smithfield with your old glass and they will remake them in any colour you want I re glassed my spliity and it was reasonable
Each splitty front glass was about $75 for tinted
and the etch it with the safety stamp as required for rego
