Yesterday, organised my brake set-up for the Oval re-build.
Using a Kombi master cylinder. The pipes out of the bottom are a bit of a tight fit but still fits in. Huge improvement in braking I'm told.
Discs with 2-pin callipers up front,
Type 3 wgn drums on rear, as per before re-build.
As I said above, just out of interest. Anyone else done this??
Yeah and they work well
I used a Beetle master cyclinder, not sure bout a kombi one.
Just out of interest, what disks did you use up front. I have a 61 that is in the process of being finished and I would love to have the braking power
of disks
Cheers

Well, firstly on the Oval I bought a CB Performance "dropped spindle & disc conversion" kit. The spindles are 29mm diameter. The discs
were provided with the kit, so I'm assuming CB Performance makes them.
Then, on the new floor pan ('70 semi-auto) there are discs already there (albeit a bit rusty!). They are also 29mm in diameter. So the new discs
off the dropped K&LP spindles have gone onto the new pan.
I believe there are 2 different axle diameters, I don't know what the other thickness is though! Sorry.
When I get a bit further on with the re-build all the stuff not needed will go up for sale here, such as the K&LP dropped spindles and an old set
of discs.
My father put one of Mike Sherman's (?? volks conversions in QLD) kits on his 62 beetle, with a kombi master cylinder, and the T3 drums on the
rear. I've driven it, and it makes a BIG difference, much more bite, better pedal feel and a more progressive application.
Good luck with the conversion.

I used discs off a 68 70 model Beetle, but you have to machine the bearing hubs out to fit the wheels bearing and get an adaptor plate for the
caliper.
G'day 56astro, I know now is not the time you are selling the unused bits and pieces, but if you do end up selling the dropped k&l pin
spindles I am definitely interested.
Cheers, good luck with the rebuild!
