I plan on running a 34 PICT carb on a 1641 with a genie exhaust. Would this be a waste of a desent exhaust system to be restricting the intake with a
34PICT? Power is not a priority, but drivability would be (torque). I also want to keep it as a single set-up for simplicity...
So would I be better off with a different carb?
you might have to up the main jet in the carb but it should work.
is the motor stock bar the 87mm barrels? the more mods done to the motor (ie headwork, cam etc) the greater the motors desire for more air.
i had a 1776 with a really mild cam fitted (similar to an engle 100) and a genie exhaust. it sounded (to me) really strangled with the 34 pict. i
changed to kadrons and they made a world of difference. there was a little fiddling to get the accelerator pumps where they needed to be (took a few
tries to get it right), but all in all they were easy to fit and tune (and i suck at playing with carbs).
the driveabillity was excellent when i got the acc pumps sorted.
henry.
I'm running a 1641 sp with an aftermarket cam, extractors, with a 30 pict 2, when you rev it you can hear it sucking the air hardcore!
I'm wanting to change my setup but since i've got a singleport engine i dont know whether i can get my hands on the carbs & manifolds at
a reasonable (considering i will one day change to twin port) price, if at all.
Yeh, all the internals are stock as for as I know... Raf, if you['re reading this, perhaps you could shed some light?
But other than that, all i want is a nicely breathing engine - the "cheapest" power boost you can give your dak dak
Yep, all stock except the 87mm P&C
what Raf sed... :thumb
whatnow could you enlighten me a bit on the jetting of carbies please? I'm a bit ignorant in this area... I know it controls the
amount of fuel to be mixed into the incoming air... thats abotu it...
Adding extractors usually means a change to a larger jet (but less so in a VW,) whereas a larger engine will usually use a smaller size. Genie with a
1641 prolly adds up to about right and won't tax your 34 at all.
I'd suggest stick with what you've got until you're ready for an upgrade ('though you might get away with a couple degrees more
advance.)
Oh, and whack a cheap airfilter on it - the oil-bath was a brilliant system, but it get's a bit restrictive when we start revving 'em.
