Would anyone know why the distributor on my '68 (with a 1300mtr) does not have a vacuum thingie on it? I was under the impression that anything
with a set of points had to have some sort of vacuum advance/retard system!:o
Roger.
Because it will be a 009 distributor.
These are a very common replacement for the vac dizzy.
Not as good but ok.
Most hottie twin carbed motors use them cause it is hard to pick up a vac signal of a set of duals.
From there some people have missed the point and thought the 009 itself was a hottie add on.
You are better off with the correct vac distributor but the cost about twice a 009
it has a mechanical advance using weights instead of the carbies vacuum. That's how it changes the timing via the engines revs.:thumb
009!! Bugger........ Being a "European convertible" they could at least have called it a 007! I'd have to agree with the
'hottie' label thought Blue, it's been above 30c here all week, just try touching the motor then
And thanks to both of you for the answer, and putting me out of my misery.
Roger.
