Barndoor Safari window glass size?
Stealth - November 19th, 2002 at 10:51 AM

Anyone know what size the glass for a Barndoor Safari window is?
600mm wide(longest point) x 405mm high.
Is this correct?

Barney safari glass is smaller than the 'later' glass.

I can measure a set for you but the glass is still in the frames.......I can measure external frame to external frame and I'd guess you'd reduce by about 5mm each side (10 mm total) to allow for the channel they sit in....I guess I could pull a bit of seal out and get the channel depth and go pretty close to a 'correct' measurement.....

I don't really want to pull them apart yet .......

thanks Rob, I thought if anyone would know then it would be you.

Don't pull anything apart, it's ok. It seems that i have such a glass. It is not "Sekurit" but "Armourplate" and has never been in a frame and still has the "Pilkington Brothers Geelong" lable attached to it, plus it is smaller than my 57 Safari glass.

Gees,

That's a bit weird! As far as I knew all barneys were imported into Oz (some private imports in 52, first 'dealer' import in 53) and there was never any CKD (complete knockdown kit) assembly?

Anybody ever seen a barney or early bus (55, 56) with armourfloat logo?

Could be a spare part I suppose ........ can't think of any other vehicle it might have gone in either!

Ive also got a Barndoor NOS but scratched 'Sekurit' glass with VW part no 211 845 101 sticker still attached. This is for normal glass not Safari windows.
