I have a set of Rossi headlights on a 64/70 Beetle and thought about incorporating the blinkers into them.
I currently have small harley ones under the front bumper but they are rusting away and need replacing.

Is it possible to rewire the blinkers into the lower part of the Rossi headlights, the light for driving at dusk and put orange bulbs in.

Anyone know if this is possible

What would you use for sidelights then? Would no sidelights be a rego defect! Back in the UK those guys put an orange bulb in the sidelight spot in US spec headlights for the indicator. I always wondered how anyone could tell which way they were turning at night???

I bought the car with the original blinkers already shaved off.

Do the rules apply to old cars as well? The current blinkers have minimal side visibility.

Half the people on the roads don't use their blinkers anyway.

Reading these posts I recall that when I visited New Zealand many older vehicles and some not so old cars drive around constantly with their indicators fully lit when over the ignition is on. When a turn is to be completed then the indicator flashes off and back on.

I thought this a very interesting concept as it is not only safer but you can be more aware of a faulty indicator. I wanted to have this set up on a black motorbike I used to have but the autolecky just scratched his head and said just buy some relfective tape. Great help he was!

I think if you did replace the park light with indicators in the front lenses then perhaps they could be constantly lit and flash off when indicating, you may need to find a autolecky that relishes a challenge.

Recently I also saw a beetle with a small accessory indicator on the the side of the running board which was a good idea as it was small and un-noticable until it was on.

i'll be hooking up indicator bulbs inside my headlights soon, mounting them on the base of the buckets at the front. im thinking about having them constantly shine wen the headllights r on, then wen i indicate the relevant side will flash.
at the moment i ONLY hav hella semaphore replacements so anythings better than that...
i had rossis and yes, u can hav the bottom lense as an indicator no problems...

I see no problem with it either, but why not just add another (orange) bulb and holder in the side of the reflector?

HQ Holdens rear indicators doubled as reverse lights. Have a look at a wiring diagram to see how they did it and maybe try something similar for the VW parkers/blinkers?

Hey Kurt, bugger that, I reckon you should just get a set of indicators from an old 45 series landcruiser and screw them on top of the guards, they'll be bigger then your headlights.....but boy will you be able to see them.....hahaha :puke
But seriously....the scary thing is I've seen it done before........:cry
