Hi all,
I was given this dissy with a box of other old VW parts. It looks like its from a VW, but no-one I know can tell me anything about it.
Any ideas?

Scat,that means made in China,right :o
He, he, he...
Yep, these days it appears to...
This dissy appears to be fairly old so perhaps it could be from an era when scat used to built quality items (they did used to build quality items,
didn't they?:P )

I think it is the SCAT version of the 009 they sold inthe 70's They use to advertise in teh Muscle Mags ( Car ones)
thats actually a good piece. Its the same as a truhaft 010. good thing to have, shitty there isnt a cap though
i have 2 of these dizzys complete one of which i am using on my oval. it has a total advance rate of 33 degrees. i have my timing set at 9 and its totals its advance at at 42degrees.
Thanks everyone,
I'll put 'finding a suitable cap' on my list of things to do, then if successful I'll give it a clean up and see how it goes. Any
idea what points it uses or am I best to adapt something that is close...?
Cheers,
R
Heya dude
Thas dizzy is a generic body casting as used by a couple of different yank aftermarket performance manufacturers such as Scat, Mallory, Accell and
probably others.
They came in a single and twin point variation, and some had vacuum advance dash pots as well.
You will find that with those dizzy bodies, there are only about 3 variations of dizzy caps in 4, 6 & 8 cyl.
The points and caps are available from any speed shop that has Mallory stuff.
Mallory dizzies all use the same set of points and rotor buttons for all points model dizzies.
If it has the adjustable advance weights then you can alter its advance curve (spring tension) total amount of advance as well as fiddle with the
initial for easy starting and good low end.
I run the twin point mallory version in my F-Vee. It is set up with about 15 deg of initial and 28 to 32 deg total advance (depending on the engine)
at 3000rpm.
The stuff is all still available.
A good find dude.
