oil pump removal

just brought a heavy duty pump with filter, how's the easist way to remove old pump with out breaking the case? - need any special tools, any ideas.....

Hmmm..... "can" be done in car.

You need to get the pulley off.
BIG spanner.

then you need to get that bit of tin off.

Then the cover to the pump, and take out the drive gears.

You then get a special puller thing that hooks into the 2 holes and you do up the nut and it pulls the pump out.

Easy - :o


Ummm..... you "do" know what cam you have?
deep dish or not?? :D

motor is out of car, gears removed, not sure about cam, when you say deep dish, pls explain. know were i can get pully from....measured slot (depth) that goes in cam, new one 10mm, old one 8mm. same thickness

You'll need to have the later-style 3 bolt cam (or any performance cam) to use your new pump.

I would recommend buying/borrowing the special tool for this job. Don't try to pry it off with screwdrivers or the like - it _will_ end in tears.
