Found in rocker cover
Bizarre - February 21st, 2004 at 10:16 PM

I have a spare motor in Blue at the moment while my other motor gets a fresh up.
I replaced the rocker cover seal today due to a bit of a leak there.

Found a broken round thing in the cover. I wont call it a washer.
It is about 2mm thick and 2 mm wide and the inside diameter is about that of a valve stem.

Motor is purring

Got me stumped - but them i aint gone through my manuals.
Just thought i would ask here first.

collet?????:jesus There are two on each valve stem to hold the spring/valve in place. Does it have grooves on the inside face????

It is a valve seal

Looked in my book and it seems to sit under the retainer for the collets?

Cant see what it seals against??

Are they important??

Nah - 99% it is that seal thing. Right i.d. diameter and all

Don't worry about it Barry, it's a valve stem seal, If they have been fitted they always go hard and break and fall off,
I have never bothered fitting them.
