only having bugs(15" rims)and walking out just before to see that my splitty has 14 inch rim...only just sorting out rim width on my bug, I now
have to do the same for the bus.
so on the front I'll stick with the 14x 4.5(?)and on the back, can I go 14x 6??
I'm not realy a mag sort of guy...so I will be painting them two tone and puting the nipple hub caps on
I know its personal taste but am I heading in the right direction with size on the back?will 6 inch fit on the back?
Rob
hey rob i think 6 inch will fit
but i have a set of slpit kombie rims for $100 mucheasier
terry
terry what are the propper size for a splitty?
have they got all the clips on them that hold the caps on and in g/c?
Rob
i think you will find early splits up to about 64 had 15 inch rims, and from then on they were 14s.
i ve had 15x5.5 all round on my bus. and you can fit 15x6 under the rear. but i got rims from a 62 beetle, as i didnt want the slots in them.
All Aussie splitts had 15 inch rims, only 68 to 70 had the wide 5 14 inch rims.
can somebody that has a 66 split tell me what rims are on theirs as some say 15 and some say 14.....

well when i found mine. it had been sitting for 25years. it actually had on it og kombi rims. and they were 14s. i asked the guy when i got it and he
said he had owned it for years b4 parking it and they were the rims it always had. so go figure.
i went for 15s as they look better.
but i think you should jus go 17s. thye look the best
All ozzie splits had 15s, it was other countries that went to 14 in 1963.
Same as all ozzie splits were 6 volt except a few in late 67 that were 12.
Cheers
Dave
Buggar...:jesus My 58 has 13 inch rims on the rear and on the front!!!! Confused the hell outa me when I was trying to put new 14 inch tyres on them today!!!Hmmm.....what to do? The rims don't appear to be rewelded and they are all wide 5's. Makes life damn difficult :cry
so its cool for me to go with 15 x 5.5's.also mine is 12volt...so this would of been converted I suppose?(it use to be a camper)
sorry guys , I think I'll always be a vw learner :jesus
ROB
