syncro - March 7th, 2004 at 10:55 AM

On the vanagon forum and the vortex forum I'd seen mention of 'Megasquirt' EFI, so I did a Google search and, oh me god, it's a programable efi kit for alot less than a brand name box.

Checkit out http://www.megasquirt.info/  lots of thech info on line !!

From what i have read you need to be pretty on to it as far as programming and understanding of EFI control units is concerned.

If youve got the time and knowledge its a really cheap option compared to the manufactured units out there. They even have an ignition module (megaspark ?) out now.

A mate has just built and installed one on his 4 cylinder Alfa powered street rod. It runs great and he is very happy with it. He used quad throttle bodies and injectors off a Suzuki Hyabusa motorcycle.
These have the same throttle body to throttle body spacing as IDF's.............:D

Been tossing around ideas for my Syncro engine rebuild. One of the issues is the stock efi not being very adjustable to cope with increased fuel demand of bigger displacement or forced induction. As always I want to be able to do as much of the work myself and at minimal cost - anything Syncro isn't going to be cheap .:P i would need the Megasquirt n spark.

And what a fine job he did!

What Pete forgot to mention is that also has an Alfa transaxle in it too! These would be great for a mid mount VW.
