I bought a '71 superbug cheap which had been sitting for a while. (I only want it for it's body, so I'm shallow, ok?
) I Keep finding more rust in my project car so I'm gonna shit-bin it
in favour of this one as it's a lot better in the rust department, even though it still has some rust and it has a lot of hail on the roof.
Anyway, previous owner bought it off a lady that said it had dropped dead in traffic. He had a half-hearted attempt at getting it running apparently
then ignored it, as I think he wanted it as a project or parts or whatever and never got a Round Tuit.
I got the thing home, and decided it would be convenient to be able to drive it in and out the driveway The Castle style, until the new motor and box
etc is ready, so I take a look at the motor.
it would turn about 300° by hand and that was it, same going the other way. never a good sign.
I ripped the plugs out and found this:

ahah, says I, a dropped valve! Fine, scrounge another head, and a set of cheap pistons and barrels and away I go.... maybe not... this is what I
found with the heads off, the debris had travelled to every cylinder.

Once I had the barrel off I discovered the rod was rather bent.

But as I bought it for the body, I really don't care, and had a good laugh at the damage.
owwww
bet it stopped in traffic on a hot day after flogging it up a hill
OUCH!!!! done a fine job of trashing it, what ever they were doing
steff...
ummm, was that valve #3 exhaust ?
nasty....
"It just made this bang rattle rattle sound........"
I seen one like this that actually still started. It ran like a chaffcutter and jackhammer, but it actually would still start!!!!!!
